The many resources available at the Ontario Early Years Centre- Simcoe North are well utilized and greatly appreciated by families visiting our centres and outreach programs. We also have college students, elementary school teachers and educational assistants, and other community colleagues borrowing our lending resources.

LENDING RESOURCES

Toy Lending Library

The Toy Lending Library is a place where you can discover your child’s imagination! Our toy lending library is a great resource for borrowing a wide variety of toys for you and your child.

High quality, developmentally appropriate toys for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school aged children are available. A wide variety of games, books, and activities supporting early literacy and numeracy

You can borrow 3 items for 4 weeks at a time, at no cost.

Theme Tote Lending

Our Theme Totes are a full tote geared towards a specific theme. You can enjoy theme totes such as: Insects, Seasons, Space, Dinosaurs.

There are 40 Theme Totes available.

You can borrow 1 Theme Tote for 4 weeks at a time, at no cost.

Special Toy Lending Library

Are you the parent of a child with special needs? Are you looking for different educational activities and toys to stimulate your child?

Are you an Early Intervention Resource Teacher, Infant Development Worker, Educational Assistant, Kindergarten Teacher who is working with a child with special needs? Are you looking for different educational activities and toys to stimulate the children?

We have over 500 items in the supporting the areas of Fine Motor Skills, Gross Motor Skills, Music, Communication (including 28 Braille Books), Sensory Skills, Switch Toys.

You can borrow 3 items for 4 weeks at a time, at no cost.

 

Children’s Book Lending Library

We offer over 1,900 children’s books for your child to borrow and enjoy.

You can borrow 3 books for 4 weeks at a time, at no cost.

Parent Resource Library

We have an extensive library of parenting books for you to borrow.

Topics include: parenting education, self-discovery, family concerns, child development, home child care, pregnancy and child birth, fathering, creative ideas, nutrition, health related topics.

We also have a number of DVD/CDs available.

Active Fun Kits

The “Active Fun Kits” are designed with fun in mind. The kits are great for birthday parties, family picnics and other events. There are 8 different bins/bags full of various items, ranging from balls to hula hoops. We also have sunshades with screening.

Pre-booking is suggested to avoid disappointment. Filling out a registration form is required.

There is no cost to borrowing the Active Fun Kits.

You can borrow items for 3 days at a time.

OTHER SUPPORTS

Clothing Cupboard

Our Clothing Cupboard has clothing from infancy to approximately 7 years of age. Maternity clothes may also be available on occasion.

There is no cost to accessing the Clothing Cupboard.

The clothing cupboard operates on solely on donations.

All clothes are washed prior to being placed in the Clothing Cupboard.

Emergency Baby Needs Depot Cupboard

The Emergency Baby Needs Depot Cupboard provides access to formula, diapers and baby food to families in need.

The emergency cupboards are stocked solely through the generous donations of  community individuals and groups.

Please note: Not all brands of formula or diapers are available.

Guidelines for the age of accessing formula and pablum are at the advice of Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

Guidelines:

  • Families are able to access the emergency baby needs cupboard once (1) a week
  • Formula (1 can of powder or 4 cans of liquid) will be given for children up to 1 year of age
  • Pablum (1 box ,when available) will be given for children after 6 months of age
  • Jarred baby food (8 jars ,when available) will be given for children after 6 months of age
  • Diapers (12 diapers, sizes depend on availability)

Good Food Box

We are involved in a community initiative in the Orillia area. The Good Food Box program offers an opportunity to individuals and families to purchase fresh produce at reasonable prices.

The Good Food Box is pre-ordered at designated locations by the 7th day of the month. A small box costs $10.00 and a large box costs $15.00.

The Good Food Box is picked up at designated locations on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
